Australia’s low fares airline, Jetstar, outsources to Hostworks the hosting of parts of its public-facing website Jetstar.com in order to bolster its online infrastructure for anticipated growth.

To meet the demands of more than 100,000 unique visitors to its website each day, Jetstar chose Hostworks because of its specialist skills and demonstrated experience in providing some of the most high-availability web presences in the Asia Pacific region. Hostworks is managing part of the front face of the Jetstar.com website, which is powered by Jetstar’s booking engine hosted by Navitaire, its reservations system provider. The Jetstar site addresses the flight needs of people in eight South East Asian regions, covering five languages.

Jetstar’s Head of Distribution and eCommerce, Jamie Perry said the company had selected Hostworks because of its specialist skills. “Hostworks impressed us as a purely corporate provider that could give us the level of service we required,” he said. “The process of implementation has run very well. Hostworks has a lot of depth and specialisation there. We need that depth: That’s why we chose Hostworks.” Mr. Perry said growth was the key driver for the Jetstar outsourcing decision.

“As the business grows, this platform prepares us for growth in a structured and planned way,” he said. “Through the Hostworks contract, we are in a virtualised environment. If we need more capacity than we currently have, virtualisation means it’s a straightforward process to bring them on. Hostworks has the specialists on board to make it happen. We also have our mobile website hosted by Hostworks as mobile is a high growth area of the Internet."
