Entertainment, hospitality and leisure company, Event Hospitality & Entertainment, has partnered with online and digital solutions provider, Hostworks, to transform its customer platforms.
The deal with Hostworks is part of Event Hospitality & Entertainment’s broader brand refresh.
Event’s director information technology, Peter Bourke says the transformation included upgrading the platforms for Event Hotels and Resorts — including QT Hotels & Resorts, Atura Hotels and Rydges Hotels — and Event Cinema’s backend and mobile applications.
“A change that was necessary to ensure both brands continued to receive and manage the lion’s share of their bookings markets,” Bourke said.
According to Bourke, the “reservation game has changed quite significantly over the last five years”.
“The introduction of online aggregators and third party booking suppliers has been hugely beneficial to our business, but engagement through our primary platforms is still our key objective,” Bourke said.
“It used to be you only booked a hotel through a travel agent and movie tickets at the cinema, but today a large majority of this is done through personal devices. With this in mind, our customer platforms must be simple to use but incredibly efficient to cut through the clutter and particularly help drive hotel direct bookings.”
Hostworks says the upgrade included overhauling the site’s backend technology to create a more compact operating system, including streamlining the booking system from using 14 separate engines to just four, giving the user an almost instant experience.
“Through our partnership with Hostworks, we’ve been able to focus on building and perfecting our product offering without the concerns of continuously updating our technology. The team at Hostworks is a true business partner. They do a fantastic job at managing our technological needs,” Bourke said.
Hostworks chief executive Will Berryman said innovation and reliability were significant components of the Event partnership.
“All it takes is a rainy day and a blockbuster movie to hit and Event’s websites go into overdrive, in some cases by a scale of 25:1. As a result we’re dealing with high volumes of user engagement that require a robust yet feature- packed user interface and a very capable backend.”
